'Penha Corvos' em Inglês: What made the scratches?!

On 17th May, 2006, a virus came upon our school, a contagious and scratchy virus that made the youngsters horror. More than 50 pupils were infected and were taken to the hospital, here in Penacova. There were two possible causes for this virus: some people think it was an infection that began in Lisbon, others think it was psychological.
The people who think the virus began in Lisbon said that it started when the students went on a school visit to the Lisbon Zoo. There the students from 5th and 6th grades had touched the peacocks and caught some virus and some lice.
Other people think it was psychological and said that it all began with the youngsters’ TV series soap opera “Morangos com Açúcar”. In there the youngsters caught a mortal virus from a person who was working at a laboratory and got very sick. So the youngsters at our school, who are very influenced by television, started scratching themselves. Their arms and necks started going red and the school headmistress sent them all to the nearest hospital in Penacova.
Probably the two versions of the fact are correct, but what is real. The fact is that the students were psychologically affected and missed their classes and tests. So, were they faking? No one could tell.
